Elastos Bi-Weekly Update – 14 February 2020


The first half of February saw the Academy dApp go live on elastOS, Kiran Pachhai teach the community how to easily create a simple dApp, and the W3C approve the Elastos DID for official registration.

Let’s recap.

Technical Dynamics

elastOS (Trinity)
– Provided technical support for the Red Packet dApp developed by the community team
– The main development work of the Blockchain Explorer dApp that uses Trinity local UI and Web API is completed. This is different compared to a regular website version that was installed before

DID
– Supported asynchronous APIs, which can provide friendlier development support
– Refactored Java DID SDK’s Exceptions to provide more reasonable and complete error information
– Continued the development of Swift and Native SDK
– Elastos DID specification has been approved for W3C registration

Hive
-Discussed the technical architecture and implementation of Hive and a wide range of storage services with the North American technical team

Mainchain
– Added maximum capacity limit for unspent tx cache
– Fixed the problem of handling high throughput caused by a single IP malicious connection
– Wrote tools for statistics of transactions and inputs in blocks

DID Sidechain
– The DID blockchain browser has been upgraded according to the Elastos DID specification, and now has functions such as viewing DID document according to DID

ETH Sidechain
– Solved the problem of BAD Block
– Added SPV module for version 1.9.0 and achieve synchronization with main chain data

Elastos Wallet
– Refactored coinbase transaction storage
– Optimized startup speed

Elastos DID v0.1.3 Node Upgrade

This version of the DID node supports the latest version of Elastos’ W3C-compliant DID specification. It is recommended that DPOS supernodes complete this node upgrade as soon as possible.

For Manual node upgrade, please follow the directions below:

  1. Download the v0.1.3 DID node program at: https://download.elastos.org/elastos-did/elastos-did-v0.1.3/
  2. Replace the node program
  3. Start the node

Tuum Team Update

• Monitored elastOS v1.0.1 update and tested capabilities with Academy Companion dApp development
• Initiated growth strategy for elastOS users and reached 5,000+ installs milestone
• Finalized v1.0.0 Academy Companion dApp design implementation
• Officially launched the Academy Companion dApp for elastOS
• Elastos Academy under maintenance with update to include Chinese translation and branding to complement newly released Academy Companion dApp
• Updated Privacy Policies and Terms for Nucleus Console, Academy dApp, and Tuum website
• Bi-weekly email sent to developers with Elastos technical update video, Nucleus Console sprint details, and sneak peek of Academy Companion dApp
• Continued architecture discussion for Hive++
• Nucleus Console: New client library added (golang), support iteration with testnet and private net, support upload of any kind of file on Upload and Sign API
• Nucleus Console now supports elastOS DID login
• Added elastOS dApp dashboard to Nucleus Console that displays stats for all the applications that are deployed to elastOS dApp store
